We Are Many and One: Compendium of the Strong Civic Space for Gender Equality project

This compendium highlights the outcomes of the first phase of the Strong Civic Space for Gender Equality project, implemented by UN Women Türkiye with financial support from the European Union. Launched in April 2021, the project aimed to strengthen the role of civil society in promoting gender equality and women’s rights in Türkiye, especially during times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 earthquakes.

The publication showcases the transformative impact of partnerships with over 40 women-led and rights-based civil society organizations across 20 provinces. Through partnerships, small grants, capacity-building programs, policy dialogues, and data literacy trainings, the project has empowered CSOs to influence national and local gender equality agendas. The compendium features real-life stories, project achievements, and innovative practices that demonstrate the critical role of civil society in advancing inclusive, sustainable, and rights-based change.

As a reflection of the collective journey started in 2021, this publication stands as a testament to the strength of solidarity and the power of civil society to drive meaningful transformation — for all women and girls. It embodies the spirit of being ‘many and one,’ where diverse voices unite for a shared vision of gender equality.
